Vegetables and Fruit To Eat In Season

Here are vegetables & fruits to eat in season - yes, it's a thing!

Did you know vegetables and fruits have a specific growing period that is the best time to eat them? Eating foods in their growing season is best for our bodies. Below I am sharing vegetables & fruits to eat in season for the freshest taste and better nutrition.

I was clueless about eating vegetables & fruits in a particular season for optimal nutrition until my Chiropractor mentioned it to me. I was getting an allergy test at her office when she explained it to me. It makes perfect sense that the fruits & vegetables we consume have their season, just like our weather seasons - winter, spring, summer, and fall.

Foods taste better and have the most nutrition during their growing season. Otherwise, we are buying fruits and vegetables that are either frozen or manipulated to grow. Is it too much for society to eat foods in its growing season for better nutrition?

Vegetables & Fruits to Eat In Season

I've read several magazines and picked out my favorite articles on what produce to eat in Season. You've heard of the Dirty Dozen to eat organic, but have you heard of only eating vegetables & fruits in their particular growing Season?

Our society is comfortable eating produce when we want, but have you ever given it some real thought? If it wasn't for my Chiropractor bringing it to my attention, I might not have. My husband is not on board with it, so it will be hard to get this going.

I've read that if produce is not in season, it's grown in a hothouse and has probably been genetically modified. What's your thought on this?

Have you noticed that some vegetables and fruits are cheaper one month and more expensive the next? That's because they are not in season, and it costs more to get them on the shelves during the offseason. And again, when we eat in Season, produce taste better and are better for us because of its highest nutrition.

That said, bananas are one fruit available all year round.

Carrots have two growing seasons, with Fall as its peak season and late spring as the other season.

Green beans and snap peas also have two growing seasons - spring and summer.
